This is a position on the Media buying team at Rainstorm Direct. The role is responsible for negotiating, executing and partnering with planning on media buys across the converged media (linear and CTV) landscape, with a focus on delivering efficient campaigns that meet client goals and maximize ROI. The ideal candidate has experience in video, along with negotiation skills. This role works closely and collaborates with others in the media department and across the agency.

This role is remote, but accommodating meetings in different US time zones is expected.

What does a Media Buyer do at Rainstorm Direct?

• Develop and execute video buying strategies aligned with client objectives and KPIs
• Understand the advertising industry, assigned media, competitive factors, and marketplace conditions that affect performance and clearance opportunities
• Negotiate competitive rates, added value, premium placements, and effective buy schedules across media partners
• Partner closely with Planning to ensure media buys align with overarching strategy and client goals
• Represent media on client calls, providing expertise on marketplace trends, pricing, inventory, and opportunities
• Track and monitor budgets with accuracy, ensuring proper billing, pacing, reconciliation, and administrative follow-through
• Analyze reporting, pre-log and post-log information, and monitor campaign performance on an ongoing basis to identify more productive opportunities and recommend optimizations
• Identify inventory patterns throughout each quarter, including present and projected station, vendor, and market conditions
• Build and maintain vendor relationships
• Solicit, evaluate, and develop new or inactive media outlets and non-broadcast opportunities, including other lead-generation channels
• Research periodicals, websites, industry communications, and marketplace updates to uncover new media opportunities
• Contribute to team initiatives, including process improvements, troubleshooting, identify workflow efficiencies, and tool enhancements
• Exemplify the agency’s Core Values and complete other duties and tasks as assigned

What do we look for in a Media Buyer at our agency?

• 1-3+ years of media buying experience, preferably across linear, CTV and -performance/response-driven media in an agency environment
• College degree or relevant experience
• Experience with national linear and performance/response-driven media
• Proven track record negotiating and managing media investments
• Strong negotiation, sales, communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with a professional demeanor and the ability to influence stakeholders
• Keen eye for analysis, including proficiency in Excel and comfort working with large datasets
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify accuracy in data
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities, following up consistently, and taking initiative
• Understand emerging trends in linear, CTV, and non-broadcast media opportunities
• Proactive, self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable independently researching new opportunities
• Collaborative mindset with demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting team members
• Desire to pitch new ideas, strategies, and media opportunities
