Senior Media Planner

Department: Rainstorm Direct - Media Planning
Location: Remote

At a glance:

This is a mid- level position on the Media Planning team at Rainstorm Direct. This role helps guide the strategic development of national linear TV and CTV detailed media plans for clients while working closely with several departments, including our media team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who has a passion for the growth and evolution of TV and understands the interactions between offline and online channels. The ideal candidate is not afraid to work in the trenches. This position is part of a close-knit team which works together to stay on top of the ever-changing media landscape.

This role is remote, but periodic travel and accommodating meetings in different US time zones is expected.

What does a Senior Media Planner do at Rainstorm Direct?

Creates and develops national linear and CTV detailed media plans that drive business growth for our clients

  • Build campaign/media briefs by collaborating with clients and account team to understand the client’s business objectives and advertising strategy.
  • Undertake research and analyze data to formulate media strategies and develop detailed media plans primarily for linear TV and CTV.
  • Partners with Digital, CTV and other offline (audio, print, OOH, etc.) media teams as needed to develop integrated media plans.
  • Leverage proprietary in-house and third-party data to effectively target audiences.
  • Analyze and make recommendations to optimize campaigns within linear TV and occasionally across other media channels, placements, products and creative.
  • Work with advanced analytics partners to review cross-channel impacts and media contributions by channel, gauging media performance and KPIs to determine the extent to which the original objectives and strategies were met, and to formulate an optimization plan.
  • Target KPI’s in both brand (GRPs, Reach, Frequency) and direct response measurements (Call, Visits, Orders, etc.) depending on client objectives.

Develop strong client relationships by being passionate and curious about clients’ business, with a strong and informed point of view on how to best spend their money

  • Help lead client conversations on ever-changing media landscape.
  • Work in conjunction with Client Services and other teams to ensure strategy is on target from both brand perspective and direct goals.
  • Present and sell out of box media ideas, to expand clients’ media footprint
  • Participate in new business development by presenting media strategies
  • Travels to client meetings as required

What do we look for in a Senior Media Planner at Rainstorm Direct?

  • 5-10 years in marketing, media, and planning experience on national accounts, preferably with an agency. DRTV experience necessary.
  • Must have experience in national linear and performance/response-driven media
  • Experience planning performance-based campaigns for CTV and programmatic preferred.
  • Solid track record developing strong client relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience telling a story with data.
  • Experience with research, insight, and planning tools like Nielsen Impact, Commspoint (cross-channel planning), MRI, YouGov, Pathmatics, ComScore, etc.
  • Exemplify high-level analytical, strategic thinking, and Excel skills. Comfortable dealing with large amounts of data.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey insights.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify accuracy in data.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Enjoys collaborative work environment.
  • Desire to pitch new ideas and strategies.
