Director, Analytics

Location: Remote

At a glance:

This is a Director-level position on our Analytics team with a core responsibility of training and leading a team to work with internal and external clients to analyze marketing data to provide actionable insights and optimization to improve upon our clients' business objectives. While remote, this person should be comfortable working Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours on a consistent basis.

What does a Director, Analytics do at Rain the Growth Agency?

  • Support analytics initiatives for all platforms – display, social, TV, print, radio, OOH, website, OTT, email, etc.
    • Autonomously lead analytics on multiple accounts and be the escalation point for direct reports
    • Strategic analytics lead on key pieces of client business, owning measurement plan development, methodology execution, insight presentation to the internal teams and clients
    • Manage, train, and mentor team to grow their capabilities in analytics and statistics
    • Support Media Planning colleagues to develop actionable insight beyond standard reporting to drive strategic marketing direction
    • Produce performance reports (e.g., scorecards, dashboards, ad-hoc reports) for clients, with the ability to recognize and troubleshoot data anomalies.
    • Support clients, internal teams, and executives in interpreting multiple regression modeling results
    • Facilitate ad-hoc marketing campaign analyses, mining for deep insights that will drive business results and inform strategic planning and optimization
    • Work to integrate new tools and stay on top on industry trends in Analytics and Predictive Modeling to best support Media Planners
    • Lead improvement projects to revamp existing tools and appropriately beta test them internally and with clients

  • Contribute to Solution Creation
    • Identify gaps, opportunities, and areas of focus for the Analytics team to maintain the agency’s competitive advantage
    • Collaborate with agency account teams to identify opportunities for solutions and translate into analytics requirements and end deliverables
    • Manage and grow existing and new vendor relationships

  • Develop strong partnerships and collaboration with internal team members and clients
    • Present project-specific findings to internal and client team members and collect feedback to refine future analysis
    • Actively listen to needs of others to understand and provide accurate information or solutions
    • Be the “go to person” on each of your client account teams with little assistance from the VP
    • Be a strong backup for the VP, understanding when, and when note, to escalate issues
    • Participate in new business pitches
    • Help guide and educate direct reports to be able to work independently
  • Co-lead and help steer the Analytics team
    • Cross train other team members within the department
    • Actively manage analysts, their workload & performance
    • Prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and adapt to changes quickly.
    • Share new findings, tools, code, etc. with the department

What makes a great Director, Analytics at our agency?

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, statistics) or Business/Marketing.
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics) or Business/Marketing a plus, but not required
  • 9+ years’ experience with at least 2 years tenure at a marketing agency
  • Deep knowledge of marketing analytics and reporting
  • Ability to apply statistical techniques independently to generate practical solutions for business problems in both the big picture and fine detail
  • Familiarity with Marketing Mix Modeling and Regression analysis
  • Experience with analytics for cross-platform media campaigns (TV, digital, paid social, SEM)
  • Proficient statistical programming skills (R, SQL, or Python)
  • Proficiency with BI Tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Datorama, etc.)
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Collaborative team member with a natural sense of curiosity
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to present in small and large groups
  • Experience representing analytics in new business pitches
