At a glance:

This is a senior-level new business executive responsible for developing, applying, and managing a sales strategy to achieve aggressive growth goals for Rain’s diverse set of service offerings. The ideal candidate is a seasoned direct response marketing & advertising expert who enjoys making and building relationships for the long game close. The VP, Growth will have knowledge of marketing and advertising strategy, aiding in their ability to sell creative, media and analytic services to CMO’s, Media Directors and Creative directors on the client side.

This leadership role is an integral part of a team that identifies and acts on business opportunities for revenue generation and helps to shape the growth of the business’s future.

The location of this role can be remote, but periodic travel and accommodating meetings in different times zones is required. There is a preference for candidates located in or around Portland, Oregon which is where our national headquarters is located.

  • Creates meaningful relationships at the highest levels of client marketing and executive teams, with the long-term goal of winning new business.
  • Contributes significantly to the acquisition of net new leads that have high growth potential and meet the criteria for the best chance of agency success.
  • A quick study, who constantly aligns our product-market fit by identifying and prioritizing target markets, client profiles and customer segments that will generate the greatest revenue opportunities for the company and also ensure client is a good fit for our culture.
  • Employs a data-driven approach across all elements of business development ensuring accurate forecasting methodologies, effective pipeline management, strong compensation programs etc.
  • Has command of presenting all agency capabilities, including Rain’s unique approach to Transactional Brand Building, Media Strategy, Data Science and Measurement.

Cultivates strong internal partnerships and helps builds effective teams.

  • Collaborates with and earns the trust of various departments to assemble and lead winning teams.
  • Collaborates with marketing team on conference engagements, email campaigns, website content, thought leadership, and other marketing materials that assist in closing new business.
  • Responsible for negotiation and execution of client contracts with related staffing plans where required, in consultation with Rain CFO and Legal.
  • Contributes to team development through sharing of knowledge and learnings from their own book of business; is a resource for junior team members to seek guidance.
  • Creates the strategy, tactics, goals and operational best practices required to build and manage a world-class sales team.
  • Leads the development of presentation materials and well written responses to RFPs that adhere to and/or advance the strategic positioning of the agency.

What do we look for in a VP, Growth at our agency?

  • Bachelor’s degree + preferred.
  • 10+ years performance marketing, account management, or business development experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in integrated brand and performance marketing strategies across creative and media, including these channels:
    • TV advertising (DRTV, General TV, CTV)
    • Digital Channels including Search, Social, OLV and Programmatic Media
    • Audio (Streaming, Podcast, Terrestrial)
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts.
  • Confident, professional, and persuasive communicator with the demonstrated ability to write well and verbally present to large groups including C-level prospects.
  • Proven ability to generate immediate revenue stream for the agency using candidate’s established network.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and has a thorough understanding of business strategy development.
  • Exhibits entrepreneurial mindset - not afraid to fly the plane while building it, and happy to lead by example and get into the weeds when needed.
  • Displays a high degree of initiative and has ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience working with senior-level executives in a corporate environment (C-level/VP).
  • High energy, positive, self-motivated, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate independently – managing own calendar, tech for meetings, business expenses, travel, etc.
